 Aquamarine, the birthstone of March can be found all over the world. Aquamarine comes from the beryl family and is one of the most highly prized gemstones. In ancient times, aquamarines; "the stone of the sea", were considered to the most desirable of the beryls. The color of aquamarine may vary from pale blue to a rich and deep blue or greenish-yellow beryl. Aquamarine can be found throughout the world, but are most plentiful in Brazil. Aquamarine can also be found in Namibia, India, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Russia and the United States. Other gemstones included in the beryl family are emerald and morganite. It stands at a 7.5 - 8 on the hardness scale.
